Friendship is very precious relationship; which has been very nicely demonstrated by O. Henry in the story "The last leaf". Sue and Johnsy are the main characters; who met each other only 6 months before at table D'hote of an Eight Street, Delmonicos. Sue was from Maine and Johnsy was from California. They shared common test in art, food and fashion; which resulted in a joint studio. Both of them were striving artist.

On a day Johnsy fell sick. She was suffering from pneumonia and Sue was performing the duty of Johnny's caretaker. The doctor told Sue that her dear friend had made up her mind for not going to live anymore. Sue got trouble with the statement of doctor; still she had hope in her heart for her friend . After dealing with the doctor., Sue went immediately to Mr Behrman; who used to live down floor of that apartment. Mr Behrman was a man of 60 with body of an imp and beard like Michael Angelo. He was painter by profession but didn't draw a single line for forty years. He always used to boast about his upcoming master piece.

Sue begged for help from him and told him about Johnny's fancy. Actually, Johnsy made up her mind that when the last ivy vine leaf will fall from the tree then she will also leave the world sailing like the leaf. At first Mr. Behrman condemned the silly fancy of Johnsy but later he accepted to help Sue. For several days thunderstorm accompanied with sleet was going on. The weather condition was not good.

And now there was only one leaf present on that tree. Sue was ordered to remove the window shade by Johnsy. She was surprised to find the leaf still on the tree which was green in color and fresh.

Johnsy soon realizes her mistake and regrets herself as a bad girl. Doctor told Sue that better nourishment will improve Johnsy health. He also informed her about Mr. Behrman who died of cold and pneumonia last night in the heavy rain. Sue immediately figures out the total situation and tells Johnsy about Behrman. The last ivy vine leaf on the tree was Mr Behrman's masterpiece. He sacrificed his life for Johnsy.

जंगल के पानी रखने की क्षमता बहुत से गुणों पर आधारित है। जैसे उसमे से एक है वनो का फैला हुआ क्षेत्रफल । ३०-४०% प्रतिशत क्षेत्रफल मे फैला हुआ मजबूत जंगल द्रुत गति वाले बाढ़ को ब्रेक लगाने मे काफ़ी हद तक कामयाब होता है। और इस तरह बहुत अधिक जीवन और संपत्ति का नुकसान को बचा लेता है । और बाढ़ से होने वाले नुकसान को बहुत कम करता है।

वन सूखा को रोकते हैं। वन सूखा और बाढ़ के मध्य एक बफर स्टॉक का कम करते हैं । इस तरह वन इन दोनो के बीच संतुलन बनाए रखने का कम करते हैं।

वन पृथ्वी पर एक वरदान है । वनों का पानी होल्ड करने की क्षमता इनका सबसे महत्वपूर्ण गुण हैं । इस कारण ही वन बाढ़ को रोकने मे सबसे महत्वपूर्णा भूमिका निभा पाते हैं।

वन आखों की ठंढक हैं। वन ईकोसिस्टम को संतुलित रख कर परोक्ष रूप से हम सब को बड़े नुकसान से बचाते हैं।

My lost dollar is a short comedy story on the practice of lending and borrowing Money. The full story revolves around $1; which was being lend to Major Todd by the narrator. Major Todd was the close friend of the narrator and he was the member of University club of Montreal.

Being a forgetful type of person mother Todd forgets about the dollar. Actually one year ago Major Todd was about to leave for his Bermuda trip and he had no change money to pay the taxi fare, Therefore he quietly ask for $1 from narrator. The narrator lend him the money, hoping that Todd would return the money.

During the trip Major Todd from Bermuda send a note for narrator. The Nrator expected that his Dollar would be inside it but to his disappointment there was a simple note containing the information about the extreme temperature of Bermuda. After his return within three weeks, narrator went to receive him at the station and asked him to take a cab but the later refuses the proposal. The narrator thought that taking a taxi and paying taxi fair might remind Todd of his dollar. During the conversation also the narrator made several refference of currency used in Bermuda to remind Todd of the loan. But it had no effect on Todd. After several meeting at the club everyday with Todd, it seemed to narrator that his friend seemed to have forgotten about the dollar.

Therefore after several attempts he disappointedly added his friend's name in his list of borrowers. It is about a very practical case of borrowing and lending of money. In this case, the lender always remembers about his lent money but the thought diminishes when it comes to borrowers.It is because that whenever the narrator meets with his friend Todd he is always preoccupied with the thought of his dollar. Finally at last, he says that he might have forgotten to repay the money borrowed by him from others. Therefore his dollar has not been returned to him.
